The Ouray Ice Festival And The Endless Ascent Was A Huge Success!

As always, the Ouray Ice Festival was a huge success. The climbing competition was exciting and thrilling to watch as the athletes pulled off feats of incredible physical and mental endurance. The kids climbing wall set a record for the number of kids that climbed ice for the first time. It's great tto see kids of all ages try something that most people would never consider attempting. The clinics offered at the Ouray Ice Festival which are booked months in advance seemed to be bustling. The chance to learn how to climb for the first time or climb more efficiently, taught by some of the worlds best climbers and mountaineers is an opportunity not to be missed. There was even pro climbers who were equipped with wireless microphones as they climbed some of the hardest routes in the park, giving spectators a chance to really see and hear what the climbers are thinking as they tackle problems that seemto be impossible. The biggest event of the weekend was of course the Endless Ascent. Will Gadd pulled off the impossible and climbed 194 laps on Pic of the Vic, one of the parks longest and most sustained ice routes. SlopeViews was proud to be a part of such an amazing event and to be there to show our support for Will as he suffered to raise money for the dZi Foundation. We want to of course give props to Will for commiting to such a tremendous undertaking and the training that went into the preparation for the event. We also want to give a very specail thanks to the dZi Foundation, especially Joanne Kneafsey and Jim Nowak for their support of our vision and the effort they put into organizing the Endless Ascent.
