An interesting article was just published in the award-winning Guardian, a leading news publication in the UK. It reports that for the first time the internet has overtaken television to become the biggest advertising sector in the country. The UK is not the first country where internet ad spending has overtaken TV, with Denmark reaching the milestone about six months ago, but it is the first major economy to do so. The big news is the growing online video advertising sector outpacing all other advertising mediums on the web. The study estimated that this sector grew by close to 300% year on year, to almost £12m. The study was conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers, in conjunction with the IAB U.K. and the World Advertising Research Center.
